What is zddp?
- ZDDP is zinc dialkyl dithio phosphate, it is currently the most widely used anti-wear additives. It has been in use for over 60 years. It has a low price, stable quality, and comprehensive functions. It can provide anti-wear, extreme pressure, anti-oxidation, and anti-corrosion properties. widely used in motor oil, transmission oil, hydraulic oil, gear oil, grease, and other lubricants.
- ZDDP, also call zndtp, zdtp, It was first developed and synthesized by the California United Oil Company in Los Angeles, USA, and it was clearly stated that ZDDP could significantly improve the antioxidant and anti-corrosion properties of lubricants, this compound consisting of zinc, phosphorus, sulfur, and alkyl groups.
- ZDDP is often used in engine oil as an anti-wear and anti-oxidant additive, it plays an important role in reducing engine wear and protecting critical components from friction and corrosion.
- In older engines, ZDDP is often essential for preventing premature wear, as newer engine technologies may not provide the same level of protection.
- ZDDP is generally combined with detergents, dispersants, viscosity index improvers, antioxidants, pour point depressants, and other engine oil additives to meet different grade requirements.
- ZDDP also plays an important role in hydraulic oil. Generally, an addition of 0.1-0.5% is sufficient to provide good anti-wear properties, oxidation resistance, and corrosion resistance. When combined with viscosity index improvers, pour point depressants, defoamers, and demulsifiers, it is generally recommended to use alkyl ZDDP due to its excellent hydrolytic stability.
