Polyisobutylene Succinic Anhydride, commonly known as PIBSA, is a critical chemical intermediate in the lubricant and explosives industries. At Chemost, our PIBSA is synthesized using high-activity polyisobutylene (HR-PIB), ensuring a product with low residual impurities and high reactivity.


Manufacturing Excellence: The Thermal Adduct Process

Our PIBSA (Molecular Weight approx 1000) is produced through a clean, chlorine-free thermal process. Unlike older methods, our direct thermal reaction minimizes corrosive by-products.

Our Synthesis Protocol:

  • Pre-activation: HR-PIB is pre-heated at 180°C for one hour to ensure uniformity.
  • Thermal Reaction: Maleic Anhydride is introduced at temperatures exceeding 200°C under atmospheric pressure (1 atm).
