PIBSI driveline dispersants are important lubricant additives, composed of polyisobutylene succinimide. Their function is to suppress impurities such as sludge and varnish, and to suspend these impurities in the oil in colloidal form.
Polyisobutylene succinimide (PIBSI) is a polyamine-based succinimide compound with succinic anhydride as the linking group, a polar group derived from an amine (usually weakly basic, typically diethylenetriamine, triethylenetetramine, or tetraethylenepentamine, etc.), and a lipophilic group of polyisobutylene (generally highly reactive, with a molecular weight of 500-3000).
CheMost Additives manufactures and supplies a variety of dispersants with molecular weights of 950, 1000, 1300, 2300, and 2400, and nitrogen contents of 1-5% and base numbers of 15-50. Boron-modified dispersants are also available.
CheMost Additives uses a thermal processing technology to ensure that the dispersant has no chlorine residue and does not use catalysts, making it particularly suitable for automotive/driveline system lubricants.
