What is PIBSI?
PIBSI is polyisobutylene succinimide, is an ashless dispersant used in lubricants. Dispersants are important additives for inhibiting the deposition of impurities such as sludge and varnish, and are one of the five most commonly used lubricating oil additives, PIBSI is a mainstream type of dispersant.
PIBSI is a polyamine-based succinimide additive, alkaline, with a highly active, high molecular weight polyisobutylene (PIB) end in its lipophilic region.
PIBSI has good viscosity-temperature characteristics, effectively dispersing black sludge and soot. Therefore, engine oils containing this dispersant have longer oil change intervals and less sludge in the crankcase. It also improves the dispersion and solubilization of high-temperature oxidation products and lubricating oil oxidation products.
PIBSI has a synergistic effect when used in combination with metal salt detergents, improving lubricating oil quality while reducing the amount of additive required.
